He represents Delhi in first-class cricket and is the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League(IPL). He has also played for the West Delhi Cricket Academy. He holds the record for the fastest century by an Indian batsman. Kohli made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 2008 and was a part of the 2011 World Cup winning Indian team. Regardless of being a regular within the ODI squad, Kohli played his first Test in 2011 against the West Indies at Kingston. Kohli was the recipient of the ICC ODI Player in 2012. In November 2013, he topped the ODI batsman for the first time.

Kohli made headlines when he was playing for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka on the day of his father’s death.
