Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was a pastor, activist of america and a prominent leader of the African-American civil rights struggle. He is also called the Gandhi of America. His efforts made progress in the field of civil rights in the U.S.; So, they are also seen as symbols of human rights today. MONTGOMERY BUS BOYKOT – Martin Luther King Jr. was made a duly pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1954. The year 1955 was the turning point of his life. This year, Mrs Rose Parkes, a woman, was arrested against the distinction of black-whites on montgomery's public buses.

In 1957, Martin Luther King Jr. was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). The group was intended to conduct non-violent protests in the interests of the civil rights reform movement by using moral authority and organising the power of churches of black people

Birmingham Expedition, 1963 – 1959, Martin Luther King Jr. went to Atlanta to take over as co-pastor of his father's church. In later years, King held a series of protests, demonstrations and processions, including the Birmingham campaign in Alabama in 1963 for voting rights, desegregation, labor rights and other basic civil rights. The Birmingham campaign in Alabama lasted for two months.
